Persistence's Journal
My life is so rough!
At 4:45 am I am so hungry that I am aroused from a sound sleep. Now, I am faced with a dilema; how to wake Mum. If I start squawking, Mum will just lock me out of the room, and I won't eat for hours and hours. That will not do at all. I have to call in reinforcements, unfortunately that means talking to that dumb mutt. Well, its the only way. Mum always wakes up if that dog whines. "Hey dog! Don't you have to go outside?"
That was too easy. But at least I am fed. Now to visit the facilities, then fall back into that deep sleep.
Hey! It's Saturday. Why is that beeping going on? Oh no! Mum is getting up. Maybe if I stay quiet (yes it's hard) she won't notice me under these blankets. Uh oh, she's noticed me. Aaagh! She's picking me up. I hate that. She knows that. Oh well, I guess I could use a snack, hopefully my sister hasn't eaten all the leftovers. Really! She doesn't need it as much as I do. Can't she see I am wasting away here?
Hey where did Mum go? She was just here. That's okay, it seems that she took that stupid, slobbering mutt with her. All the better for me. I think I will sleep on the couch and soak up some of this sun.
I must have been asleep for some time. There are sounds coming up the steps. It must be Mum. I have to be right there at the door for her. Oh Crap! The dog is with her. Ahhh, run! Run! Why doesn't that dog realize I hate her. Dumb animal.
Oh my gosh! I am so hungry. Hey! Mum, where are you going? Why aren't you taking the mutt with you? Wait a minute, you haven't fed me yet. Stop! Don't go!
Finally, Mum is home. She can feed me. I think I have to use some of my persuasive powers. I'll try following her around a bit.
No luck. I'll try some head butting. Maybe I can move her by force. I am starting to get a headache, but my hunger is far more important.
It's not working! Okay, now for the last straw. I'll sit by my dish and squawk.
Yes! It worked! I have been fed. Of course I had to wait for Maggie to finish first, but "age before beauty"! Now it's time for a good grooming and a nap. When is Mum going to bed? Why is she typing on that machine? She should really pay more attention to me.
It's all about me.

Ah, another insight into the incredibly narrow world of felines. I have the feeling that Bert and Maggie would say far more caustic things.
Wait til I start blogging Cotton's adventures in the assisted living community where she was moved this week.
